Enrollment

Each school-age child must attend the appropriate school in the school district of the county in which he or she resides. Enrollment age for kindergarten requires that children be 5 years old on or before September 1, and 6 years old on or before September 1 for 1st grade. Students entering school for the first time must be accompanied by parents or permanent legal guardian providing:

Proof of Residence – A rent receipt, telephone bill, electric or utility bill which includes the physical address of the residence

Birth Certificate – A certified copy

Proof of Immunization – An up-to-date Georgia School Certificate of Immunization provided by the Public Health Department

EED Certificate – An up-to-date Georgia Ear, Eye and Dental Certificate provided by the Public Health Department

Guardianship Designation – Permanent guardianship papers if the student lives with anyone other than their natural parents

Social Security Identification – Child’s Social Security card, if available

Name Change Documentation – A copy of any court orders to change a child’s name or guardianship

Kindergarten and Elementary

All children of Rincon residents inside the city limits attend Rincon Elementary or Blandford Elementary for kindergarten through 5th grade. Only children of those residents of Bent Tree, Kates Cove and Cross Creek subdivisions attend Ebenezer Elementary.

Middle School

All children of Rincon residents inside the city limits, including those living in Westwood and Silverwood subdivisions, attend Ebenezer Middle School or Effingham County Middle School.

High School

Students of residents of Towne Park Drive (beside Citizens Bank of Effingham) and north of Towne Park Drive attend Effingham County High School.

South-Effingham 

Students of all residents south of Towne Park Drive attend South Effingham High School. This includes residents of Westwood and Silverwood subdivisions.

School districts are evaluated by the Board of Education from time to time as the county’s population grows and new schools are built. For verification of school districts, call the Transportation Supervisor at (912) 754-3574.
