Probation Officer


The City of Rincon is currently seeking a Full time Probation Officer. A viable applicant must be at least 21 years of age; be able to pass a Criminal background check and pass a drug screen. This position works under general direction and is responsible for supervising a misdemeanor probation caseload, according to state/federal laws, and company policy; will have regular contact with key customers, government officials and other Rincon Police Department personnelApplicants must have the ability to plan, develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate operations and services in a community corrections arena; excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment; ability to successfully execute many complex tasks simultaneously; and ability to work as a team member, as well as independently. 

Job responsibilities include:


  • Supervises misdemeanor probationers ensuring their compliance with court mandates by reviewing court conditions
  • meeting with probationer face to face or via telephone. 
  • Collects court fines and fees. 
  • Reviews multiple reports as required and/or necessary to ensure probationers are being compliant per company policy and/or local office policy.
  • Prepares and/or collects data for revocation hearing for the appropriate jail or court. May be required to attend and participate in violation of probation hearings concerning cases supervised.
  • Updates case management system with probationer compliance information, progress and related information.
  • Prepares cases to be modified by reviewing file and completing appropriate forms. 
  • Prepares Violation of Probation Report/ warrants on a bi-weekly basis and submits to the courts.
  • Submits cases to be closed in a timely manner according to court mandates and company policy. Conducts drug/alcohol tests as needed or assigned.
  • May act as liaison between the courts and consults with local judges to discuss a particular case or individual client. 
  • Conducts case audits of caseload to ensure compliance with company rules and standards as needed.
  • Travel may be required. 
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by management. 


A minimum of 5 years’ experience in one or a combination of the following: corrections counseling, parole office, or probation officer.

An equivalent of a standard two-year college course of study (90 quarter hours/60 semester hours) or have four years law enforcement experience, will be accepted. Any private probation officer who was employed as of July 1, 1996 and who had at least six months of experience as a private probation officer, or any person employed as a probation officer by a county, municipality, or consolidated government as of March 1, 2006, shall be exempt from such college requirements. Documentation of education, law enforcement experience, and POST certification is required.

Part Time Concession Stand

The City of Rincon is looking for part-time help with the Recreation Department.

Duties include:

  • Manages refreshment stands and other food concessions at public gathering and sporting events.
  • Manages cash register during events
  • Supplying excellent customer service
  • Receives orders and complete tasks both quickly and efficiently
  • Communications well with customers and fellow employees
  • Other recreation duties may apply
  • Physical Demand will include typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of materials of moderate weight (25 to 50 pounds) and standing for a long period of time.

Minimum Age is 16 years old.

Police Officer

The starting salary is considered based on certifications and experience.

Potential candidates must be at least 21 years of age, be a State of Georgia P.O.S.T. certified police officer in good standing, and have a minimum of a high school Diploma. As a condition of employment, all new police officers must sign an agreement that they will not use tobacco products while on-duty.

City Engineer

The City of Rincon is currently seeking a Part or Full time City Engineer. A viable applicant will have a valid GA. driver’s license 

Applicant must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or other related engineering degree. Must also have a P.E.

Applicant must have two (2) years of experience in this field and/or training as a civil engineer or related engineering field.

Previous experience with CAD preferred.

Applicants must have the ability to:

  • Perform technical tasks to support department function; reviews and approves hydrology studies for proposed development; conducts site reviews to ensure compliance with design plans; performs State water determinations.
  • Provides professional recommendations and assistance to city staff; provides input regarding rezoning applications, subdivision plat application, stream buffer exception requests, and other requests as applicable
  • Administer the flood plain, storm buffer, soil erosion control and storm water ordinances of the city, including monthly and semi-annual reports for the Georgia EIPD and District SWCC
  • Receive a variety of plans, designs, applications, subdivision plats, permits, maps, drainage calculations, survey data, change orders, billing invoices, purchase requisitions, and related submittals; reviews, processes, utilizes, recommends, approves, and/or forwards as appropriate
  • Perform other related duties as requires.

 The City of Rincon is currently seeking a firefighter with good communication skills in dealing with the public.

Position Summary

This position performs and continues to train in firefighting activities, including combating and extinguishing fires, rescuing persons and salvaging property in emergency situations, training with and maintaining equipment, assisting in fire prevention activities, and controlling and containing hazardous substances.

Position Requirements

  • Successful completion of entry level firefighting training program is a perquisite for this position within 12 months of hire date.
  • Must possess a Georgia valid driver’s license. Must be able to obtain Class E or F Driver’s license within three months of hire.
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must be able to read and write the English language.
  • Must be able to pass physical and meet or exceed minimum requirements on NFPA 1500 physical.
  • Must be of good moral character.
  • Must be able to work various shifts.
  • Applicants must pass a background check and follicle test drug screen.
  • High School Diploma or GED; firefighting experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Essential Functions

  • Operates assigned equipment; drives fire vehicles or apparatus to respond to calls in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Inspects and checks conditions of fire hydrants, standpipes, and water supply sources.
  • Must attend 50% of the drills that are scheduled on days when not on shift
  • Responds to fire alarms; lays out and connects hoses; raises and climbs ladders; directs the suppressants to extinguish fires; carries out firefighting activities using tools and methods in prescribed manner; performs emergency lifesaving activities; salvages and preserves property to minimize fire loss; and performs clean-up activities after fire suppression.
  • Trains and studies with fire tools and equipment to develop and maintain competency and proficiency in fire suppression and prevention procedures and techniques, lifesaving techniques, and to become familiar with developments in incombustible and fire hazards; conducts studies to learn locations of city streets and addresses, hydrants, standpipes, and physical features of property within a district.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
