The Rincon Police Department Training and Recruiting division mission statement:

To provide current and accurate training for all members of the police department and to provide officers a safe and advanced learning environment that encourages growth and development.

The Training Division conducts training to all certified officers in Use of Force and De-escalation techniques and uses reality-based training to challenge officers’ response to scenarios.

We regularly conduct Active attack training, tactical firearms training, and mental health topics.

Civilian Training:

Provide relevant training to all members of the community on topics that matter with transparency and understanding in mind.

The Citizens Police Academy

Is a 10-week program that provides members of the community an inside look at their police department through lecture, reality-based training scenarios, group discussions, and asking the tough questions and why.

The program is taught by instructors that work with the Rincon Police Department from all divisions within the department. Course content covers many topics which will benefit the community’s knowledge of police practices and create a police/community partnership.

Some topics discussed include:

  • Civilian Response to Casualty Care (CRCC)
  • Use of Force
  • Divisions within the department and their responsibilities (Detectives, K9's, Patrol, Training)
  • Effingham County Sheriff’s Jail Tour
  • Scenario based training covering use of force and de-escalation techniques

It will be the goal of the Training Division to offer the Citizens Police Academy to members of this community once a year. We value this opportunity to have citizen interaction and will work to constantly provide relevant and updated program material using attendee feedback.

Police Officer Recruiting

In our mission to provide the community with quality service comes the responsibility of recruiting candidates to the police officer position.

The department uses various recruitment methods to reach the largest potential pool of candidates. We reach out through social media campaigns, use of traditional advertising, job fairs, internet job boards and college recruiting forums.

We are always recruiting for GA POST Certified Officers and Non-Certified Police Recruits.

Non-Certified Applicants (Police Recruit)

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age
  • Complete a City of Rincon Police Department Application
  • Must have or have the ability to obtain a valid GA Driver’s License
  • Background Check
  • Interview
  • Drug Screen
  • Psychological Evaluation
  • Voice Stress Analysis
  • Physical Agility Test* - required to be accepted into the police academy

Once hired you will begin preparing to attend the next session of the Basic Law Enforcement Training Certification Academy. This will be an 11-week program, conducted at a regional academy, which upon completion will result in the recruit becoming a State of Georgia Certified Peace Officer.

GA POST Certified Applicants (Police Officer)

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age
  • Complete a City of Rincon Police Department Application
  • Must have a current POST record in Good Standing
  • Must have or have the ability to obtain a valid GA Driver’s License
  • Background Check
  • Interview
  • Drug Screen
  • Psychological Evaluation
  • Voice Stress Analysis

Once hired you will be assigned to the Field Training Program and begin working with a Field Training Officer. You will work a 12-hour rotating patrol schedule.
